Frequently Asked Questions

Why does ValleyCare Charitable Foundation need donations?
ValleyCare Charitable Foundation’s mission is to raise funds and awareness for projects and services to improve quality patient care in our community. In 2015, our hospital merged with Stanford to become Stanford Health Care — ValleyCare, adding globally renowned expertise to our robust local offerings. The Hospital remains a nonprofit, reliant on private donations to foster and protect the lifeline between the people of the Tri-Valley and compassionate, personalized, and high-quality medical services.

How is my donation used?
Donations are used to support programs, services, and technological upgrades at Stanford Health Care — ValleyCare, including ambitious cancer services, state-of-the-art ER equipment and technology, diabetes and nutrition programs, financial assistance for pulmonary rehab patients, and more. We also have annual funding priorities, such as our Campaign for Stroke Care to launch a certified stroke care program at the Hospital. Visit our Impact Stories page or our Funding Priorities page to learn more about our initiatives.

Can I designate my donation to a specific program?
Yes. Your gift is important, and you can direct your support in a way that is meaningful to you. Or make an unrestricted gift, which will be used based on the greatest need.

Can I honor a doctor, nurse, or loved one with my gift?
The Circle of Care program is a simple way for grateful patients, families, and friends to acknowledge an exceptional caregiver who went above and beyond to make their experience at Stanford Health Care – ValleyCare a little easier. Whether you choose to honor an outstanding physician or nurse, an attentive dietitian or physical therapist, a cheerful housekeeper, or perhaps a caring volunteer, your donation is a meaningful way to say "Thank you" and help future patients and families at the same time.

You can also choose to give a memorial and tribute gift. VCCF welcomes gifts in honor or memory of a loved one or friend, or in celebration of a birthday, anniversary, or other event.

I can only afford a small donation. What difference will it make?
Your donation of any amount is valuable and appreciated! When pooled together, multiple gifts can help fund a wide range of needs; for example, important equipment upgrades and innovative capital initiatives. It could also be used to purchase a turban or wig for a breast cancer patient or fund physical therapy for a cardiac patient, and more! See more about our initiatives and their impact on our Impact Stories page.

How can I contribute?
You may give via our website Donate Now page, mail us a check, give stocks or other securities, make a grant through your Donor Advised Fund, initiate a direct rollover from your IRA, as well as make gifts by will or estate. You may make a one-time gift or sign up for a recurring gift. Learn more on our Ways to Give page.
